Mediation
What is mediation?

The process of dispute resolution involving a professionally trained third neutral party that facilitates the negotiation process among individuals.  Mediation requires the principles of

  • voluntariness
  • informed consent
  • self-determination
  • impartiality and
  • confidentiality.

The goal of mediation is to offer individuals a safe, structured arena in which to discuss concerns, express their needs and possibly arrive at a mutually acceptable agreement.  It requires open communication and a sincere interest in conflict resolution.

Divorce mediation addresses issues of separation, division of marital property and debt, spousal support, child support and custody and parenting decisions.

Any agreement produced from mediation is to be reviewed by each party's attorney prior to signing.  Parties entering into a mediation contract agree that they will not, under any circumstances, involve the mediator or any records resulting from the mediation process, as witness to testify in any Court proceedings.
